What Is Shadow Island?

Shadow Island is a high-level island in Second Sea (C2), designed for players at level 3,000 to 3,150. It sits between Dragon Island (2,850–3,000) and Peanut Island (3,150–3,300) in the Sea 2 progression route.

The island’s main attraction is the Zenith Boss — a super boss that spawns exclusively during storm events inside an underground cave. Zenith has a 100% guaranteed drop rate, making it one of the most reliable progression targets in the game.

Route

Shadow Island is part of the late-game Sea 2 island chain:

Island Level Range What’s There
Dragon Island 2,850–3,000 Dragon Super Boss (Kaido), Mace V2 (1%)
Shadow Island 3,000–3,150 Zenith boss (storm event, 100% drop)
Peanut Island 3,150–3,300 Dough quest NPCs

From Dragon Island, sail southeast to reach Shadow Island. It’s a rocky, dark-themed island — the cave entrance is on the island itself, leading underground.

Zenith Boss — The Main Attraction

Zenith is the only super boss on Shadow Island and the reason most players come here.

Property Details
Location Underground cave on Shadow Island (C2)
Spawn Condition Storm event (every 2h 35m)
Window 10 minutes (boss despawns when storm ends)
HP ~190,000
Drop Rate 100% — Zenith Drop guaranteed
Drop Used For Three Sword Style (3SS), Race V2 quest

Storm Event Timing

The storm follows a fixed cycle:

  • Frequency: Every 2 hours and 35 minutes
  • Duration: Exactly 10 minutes
  • Effect: Darkens the sky in Sea 2 and Sea 3, triggers Zenith spawn on Shadow Island
  • Visual cue: You’ll see the sky turn dark and storm clouds appear

The storm affects both Sea 2 and Sea 3 simultaneously. In Sea 3, the storm enables Ghostship and Cthulhu boss mechanics (currently unreleased).

How to Fight Zenith

  1. Wait on Shadow Island — once you see the storm start, head into the cave
  2. Go underground — the cave entrance is on the island surface, leading to an underground chamber where Zenith spawns
  3. Use ranged fruits — Phoenix, Dragon, or Magma are ideal for keeping distance from Zenith’s ~190k HP
  4. Defeat within 10 minutes — if the storm ends, Zenith despawns and you’ll need to wait another 2h 35m

💡 Zenith has a 100% drop rate — unlike other bosses with RNG drops, you’re guaranteed to get the Zenith Sword on your first kill. No grinding required.

Why Shadow Island Matters

Zenith is a mandatory progression gate for two major upgrades:

1. Three Sword Style (3SS)

3SS V1 is one of the strongest fighting styles in the game, requiring three legendary swords:

Sword Obtainment Drop Rate
Zenith Zenith boss, Shadow Island (storm event) 100%
Shusui Shusui boss, Flower Capital 10%
Enma Enma boss, Flower Capital 10%

Unlock steps:

  1. Own Zenith, Shusui, and Enma
  2. Reach 300 Mastery on all three swords
  3. Interact with the Rock Shrine in Land of Gods (Sea 3)

2. Race V2 Evolution

The Race V2 quest has three parts, and Zenith is the final boss:

  1. Quest 1: Defeat a Sea Beast (Sea 2 ocean, every 30 min; 100k+ bounty increases spawn rate)
  2. Quest 2: Open 50 Treasure Chests (best areas: Starter Island C2, Marine Base C2)
  3. Quest 3: Defeat the Zenith Boss on Shadow Island during a storm event

After completing all three, return to the Race Engineer NPC (Starter Island C2) and pay 1,000,000 Beli + 100 Gems to unlock V2.

⚠️ You must defeat Zenith during the Race V2 quest for it to count. If you killed Zenith before starting the quest, you’ll need to do it again.

Tips for Shadow Island

  • Time the storms: Track when the last storm ended — set a timer for ~2h 30m so you’re ready on Shadow Island when the next one hits
  • Server hop if you miss it: If you just missed a storm, switching servers may land you in one where the storm is active
  • Bring ranged damage: Zenith hits hard at melee range. Phoenix, Dragon, and Magma let you damage from a safe distance
  • Do Race V2 and 3SS together: Since Zenith is required for both, plan to handle the Race V2 quest + grab Zenith for 3SS in the same session
  • Don’t wait in the cave: Zenith only spawns when the storm starts — you can wait on the island surface and enter the cave once you see the storm begin
