Scrolls in Haze Seas — Complete Guide
Haze Seas has two types of scrolls, each serving a completely different purpose:

Regular Scroll — Raiu Sword
The regular scroll is used to obtain the Raiu sword (also spelled Rayu by some players), a C-tier sword with two moves.
Step 1: Defeat Shiryu at Skull Island

Shiryu spawns on Skull Island in Sea 1. The drop rate is low — expect to kill him ~20 times on average before the scroll drops.
Step 2: Find the Scroll Merchant
The Scroll Merchant NPC is hidden behind the skull on Skull Island. After defeating Shiryu and getting the scroll, walk around to the back of the giant skull structure to find him.

💡 You don’t need Beli or Gems — just the scroll itself. Hand it to the merchant and you’ll receive Raiu immediately.

Raiu is an early-game sword suitable for Sea 1 content. Its low trade value and C-tier rating make it a stepping stone rather than an endgame weapon — most players replace it with stronger options once they reach higher levels.
Poneglyph Scroll — Sea 2 Travel
The Poneglyph Scroll is a completely different item from the regular scroll — it’s used to unlock travel to Second Sea, not for any weapon.
- Give it to the Dimensional Sailor NPC on Starter Island
- Unlocks teleportation to Sea 2
- Obtained through a multi-step quest involving a cutscene and the Red Emperor

Tips
- Farm Shiryu efficiently: Bring a high-damage fruit to speed up kills. Each kill takes 1–2 minutes with a decent build.
- Don’t confuse the two scrolls: The regular scroll from Shiryu only works with the Scroll Merchant for Raiu. It does not unlock Sea 2.
- Check your inventory: After each Shiryu kill, open your inventory — the scroll is easy to miss in the loot pile.
